I ran a unethical request once (to my shame) that involved using fake id's (photos) of users to give the impression that there were more users on the site than there was. I don't know how you would label this kind of practise. Fake Users pattern?

New Dark Pattern Proposals

I'd like to suggest a few new Dark Patterns

Forced Slide Show View

Somewhat obvious description. Users are forced into a slide view which must reload the page and advertisements. Another variation on this is the forced splitting of an article. Plenty of sites do this. There should be an alternate view where each slide is presented in a list view.

Flash Cookie Abuse

Not sure if this is still an issue but regardless, is there any reason to store extraneous data in flash cookies?

Pop arounds

Pop-ups, Pop-unders etc. that open automatically.

Unmutable, Auto-playing Movie Ads

Probably less under the control of a webmaster but these are an extremely bad user experience.
